Comic Culture

Full Disclosure: I had very little to do with setting-up this display.

The Assistant Director was looking for display case ideas for June and my co-worker suggested comics and graphic novels from the library’s collection.  Comic books and graphic novels at our library are shelved depending on what department they are purchased from. Adult graphic novels may end up in fiction or nonfiction – depending upon their narrative — and youth GNs may go to juvenile nonfiction or fiction or young adult. And then there’s Media purchasing all of these how-to-draw-comics and documentaries.

Things are pretty hairy.

This display is meant to remind our patrons that there are comic books and graphic novels in the library, no matter what section they visit. The images used as backdrops in the case came from a few book compilations that we had on the shelf. My contribution to this display, aside from title suggestions, was having the display title set in the comic book-esque word bubbles.
